"In 2023, the American Bar Association created a bipartisan Task Force for American Democracy, on which I was proud to serve. In the run-up to the 2024 elections, the Task Force worked with local leaders and election officials in critical states to shore up the integrity of the election process. Now, after two years of hearings, working papers, and deliberations, the Task Force has recently also issued a final report on reforms the Task Force believes would help reduce polarization and extremism. One of these is particularly relevant, at this moment, to New Jersey.

As my own academic work documents, Americans are not nearly as polarized about political issues as are our representatives in Congress. This is part of why more voters than ever are alienated by the political system and believe the two major parties are not representing them well…."
