Turkuler Isiksel is Associate Professor of Political Science at Columbia University and works primarily in contemporary political theory, focusing on the off-label—even authoritarian—uses of traditional liberal institutions like elections, human rights norms, constitutionalism, and judicial review. Isiksel is the author of Europe’s Functional Constitution: A Theory of Constitutionalism beyond the State (2016). She has held fellowships at the European University Institute in Florence, the Center for Ethics at Harvard University, and the Law and Political Affairs Program at Princeton. Most recently, she was the Neil MacCormick Fellow in Legal Theory at NYU School of Law.
